Review: Dermax Professional UV Active Water-Burst Sunscreen

Being pregnant, I’ve been really careful with the products I’m using. During my first trimester, I actually didn't want to use just any product at all. I am just too lazy to apply anything on my body and it's already a tedious work for a momma ongoing through a lot of hormonal changes.

Good thing my second trimester was a bit easier than the first because I became less sensitive with the smell. During my first, I used a mint shampoo from Human Heart Nature because it's the only smell I can take during shower. My soaps and other products were all unscented. I hate the smell of everything, coffee, roasted garlic, perfumes among others. I can't even take being in the restroom for 5 minutes. I have terrible morning (afternoon and evening) sickness at that time.

For my last semester, I can say I have moved past all that. I can smell everything now. Thus I need to go back to my skin routine with caution. I still check if the products were safe for me and baby. My skin just feels so dry recently that why I needed to go back little by little. One of the few products I tried is a sunscreen from Dermax which is the Dermax Professional UV Active Water-Burst Sunscreen. I tried it and I feel that it works great for me.

I got this product last year when I subscribed for a sample at Sample Room. It was sitting tightly in my box unused and I only just used it recently because I needed a sunscreen that would suit my skin needs during this pregnancy. I still have other sunscreen sitting in my shelf though but I wanted to try something else that would be nicer to my skin. I found this.

What I like about this product is that it's super hydrating. Maybe that's why it's called Water-Burst sunscreen after all. It has SPF 45+ and has a PA +++ which is totally great because it has intense protection. I totally liked it because after application, it sits on the skin automatically after a minute of just for a few seconds. No irritating feeling of putting sticky lotions or sunscreen and no need to wait before it sits comfortably on the skin.

With its gentle sunscreen ingredients that protects against UVA and UVB rays, it provides protection to my skin especially that I’m feeling twice the heat because of my pregnancy.

The product was slim and very handy that you can bring it anywhere. It's also a pump so it's a plus factor since you don't have to  dispense the product by squeezing the bottle. I love pumps! Who isn't? :)

The consistency was very light that you'll feel you are just putting water. I think this is the lightest sunscreen I have used my entire life. It might be pricey for P720 for a 50 ml. They also have a smaller one for you to try first which is the 30 ml tube for P475. I swear by this product! Highly recommended!

Yay for me! (。◕‿◕。)
  • Love the moisture it gives.
  • Feeling very light on the skin.
  • Has high SPF 45 PA +++
  • Perfect for active lifestyle or to those who sweat much!
  • Dispenses in pump! Winner!
  • Very handy to carry and to use often.
  • Got it for free!

Nay for me! (。◕︵◕。)
  • Regular price is a bit expensive.

Price: Got it for FREE!
P720.00 - 50 ml.
P475.00 - 30 ml.

Bought from: Sample Room
Size: 50 ml.

Overall, this is a product I would love to use again! Might take a little sacrifice though for it's price because it's almost 50% higher than my normal sunscreen. Still, I would love to get this over and over again. If you're looking for the perfect sunscreen for you, this might fit in your lifestyle. Give it a try and see the results! :)

  1. I really needed this! Because of my tourney last week, I have gotten insanely dark. I used sunblock of course, but I needed somethign more sweat-proof. And I didn't like using sports sunblock because of the smell.

  2. Great review. I always need to use sunscreen. My skin is so light. And when I g in the sun, I have a sunburn in no time. So I love this tip. Spf 45 should be enough. I usually start with 50 and later on I use 30.

    1. You can reapply when needed as SPF 45 may last for 6-8 hrs.

  5. It's great that you can use it while you are pregnant, even future mommies need protection from the sun. I love products that are light on the screen. How does it act in contact with the sun? Does it become oily or the skin absorbs is all?

  10. the name water-burst is because the product is very moisturising? for me, PA +++ is no longer good enough since PA ++++ entered the market. If you're focused on not getting too dark, PA is very important! a lower SPF just means more frequent re-application, but PA+++ will never protect you against UVA (what makes you dark and cause skin aging) as well as PA++++. :)

    1. I am not using this for whitening, it'sgood that it has PA +++ and prevents from darkening but not using this for the purpose of whitening. It's for moisturizing and since it has SPF 45, which is good to last for several hours a day, roughly around 6-8. I didn't mentioned that the PA protects you from the UVA. I mentioned the SPF is the one for protection.

  11. Too expensive :( but I tend to spend a lot when it comes to skin care products and cosmetics because mostly are really effective unlike the cheaper ones, you get what you pay for (not generalizing tho) hehe. Thanks for sharing! :D

  12. Seems like a great product. With a lot of value for the money you spend on it. So it might be a good product for me to try out. I usually use Chanel skin care, this could be a budget option.

  13. I'm currently on medication with my skin by my derma and was told that I would need sunscreen for my skin. I just hope that this is compatible with sensitive skin as well. I've tried a lot of sunscreen on my face and I've only found organic products to not sting on my skin. (Super sensitive skin!)

    1. Then you can check at Dermclinic for this or if only organic are suited for your skin, try checking Human Heart Nature. I think they have a natural sunscreen there.

  17. Just like putting water! Yes, please! I hate sticky and heavy products. Might give this a try. Might even ask my sister to buy so I can get from her and save money though. Either way, I might give this a go too. I love how the product photos include a PSVita game too hahahaha Very interesting pairing.

  20. Sunscreen is a must nowadays. The sun's rays are not harmless anymore.

  21. There are many restrictions when pregnant, even for beauty products. But pregnant or not, I believe we should be careful with products we use. I'm glad you have found the Dermax water base sunscreen. It's not harmful to your skin and the environment too.

  22. I feel you, I remember buying this lotion because of the recommendation of my other preggo friends but ended up giving it away as its smell is making my stomach turn. While pregnant, I was also weary of putting anything on my face or body that has any chemicals that might also harm my baby. Good thing there are lots of natural and mild options to choose from. This product looks promising. I am looking for something similar to protect the skin from harmful UV rays. I might consider trying this out soon.

    1. I thought you are mentioning this one on the first sentence of your statement. Anyhow, I also had the same situation and ended up not using anything during my first trimester. I was back in using products only this 3rd trimester.

  24. I'm super lazy when it comes to skincare regimen and I'm very much aware that my skin is suffering. I badly need a sunscreen because I am also not into using umbrella but what I hate about sunscreens is the yucky sticky feel on my skin. I'll probably give the small tube a try.

  25. I love the look of this product! I also like that it's in a slim and handy bottle. Though, I find it a bit pricey. Would also try this maybe if I'll be needing something with lighter texture, compared with what I'm currently using.
