It's been a while since I last played around my beauty products because I was so busy and all. I tend to forgot products on my cabinet One of the beauty items I always love playing with is an eyeliner. When I got this Benefit They're Real! Push-Up Liner from my winnings on Miss Nicole's blog together with some Ponds essentials, I started playing around it since the first time I got it. I forgot to use it after a while and I don't know if it get clogged or it's just kinda old since I think it's quite dry.
I actually like how the tip was designed. It draws an easy line since it was shaped that way and it's a lash-hugging liner making it comfortable to use. However, I got some problems when I first used this. It says that I have to twist the base so that the content will come out. Usually, it should only take a few twist to make it work but I think I twisted more than a 100 times and the content was still not coming off. I actually thought that it has been used that the contents were already used up.
Later on, when the content were already out, I can't control it so it gives off too much. When I stopped twisting, there were just few left so it signals that I can use it. The gel has a little moist back when I first used it.
I stopped using this for a month (because I was so busy with work and don't have time to play with makeup) and when I used it again, it gave me this matte black finish. I don't know what happened but it gives off a uneven lines when the contents were out. Sometimes, it tends to be thick (like the first swatch) and at times, it gives a slim appearance (like the last swatch).
Instructions and survey results can be seen on the box of the product.
I actually like it at first use but when I stopped using it and got back at it again, I was thinking if it dried inside or it was like that before and I just didn't noticed. Then I remembered what happened when I first twisted off it's base. Well, I think I can conclude that it's a bit dry inside since it's difficult to push the contents out at first.
I also think it was waterproof since I tried washing it off with water and it really doesn't want to come off. I soon cleaned it up with my cleansing oil. However, I don't really think it's long-wearing even if used with a primer. I got back after my 2nd class (which is 2 hours) and I look really weird. I guess, it makes my skin darker after the gel sets in.
Well, I hope there will be a difference when I continue using this daily. I guess, you don't have to let this product sit for long since it might get dry inside the tube. I will use this daily from now on and let's see the difference.
Yay for me! (。◕‿◕。)
- Sophisticated packaging
- The-lash hugging pen makes it easy to apply
- I like the matte-black finish
- The tip draws an easy line
- Definitely waterproof
Nay! (。◕︵◕。)
- Since it's long-wearing, it is sometimes difficult to remove.
- Difficult to let the gel come off the first time
- Gives thick and slim lines. Might be helpful to swatch it in your hand first.

I know a lot of people loves this product and was raving everything about it but I think I have a different impression. Anyway, that's my own share of review. Will definitely provide an update if this happens to be better than the other eye liners out there. For now, it isn't.
Any suggestions for other eyeliners to try? Will blog more soon! Xoxo ♥
The shade looks interesting. I will refer it to my girlfriend.

I think you will like it. Go grab one! :)
DeleteI suck putting on eyeliners but the Maybelline gel liner makes it so easy. This one might too. Wish we have benefit here. Thanks for the review.
ReplyDeleteMaybelline gel liner? Hmmm, I should find that one too.
DeleteIt's nice that it's waterproof since the eye area tends to moist up the eyeliner. You won't need to reapply.
ReplyDeleteI still need to reapply some though since it's not really long-wearing.
DeleteI'm not familiar with using gel liners but based on the look of the product, the application makes it a lot easier.
ReplyDeleteFor waterproof products, I think you should try using a make up remover so it will be a lot easier for you to remove it.
Yes of course. Using a makeup remover would really be a lot easier than water. The water testing was just for review if it is really indeed waterproof. :)
DeleteGel liners are my thing too. I find pencils too abrasive.
ReplyDeleteSame here. I lately became a fan of gel liners.
Deletei love benefit products but never tried this one, i guess every brand has their best and worst.
